Carrom, a tabletop game that originated in India, involves players flicking discs in an attempt to knock them into the corners of the board. This game has gained immense popularity in the Indian subcontinent and is known by various names in different languages.
Carrom is a game commonly enjoyed by families, including children, and is often played at social gatherings. It is worth noting that different regions have their own set of standards and rules for playing this game. During the early 20th century, Carrom gained significant popularity in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. Additionally, it also became a favorite pastime in the United Arab Emirates, as well as the rest of the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula, during the Arab-Indian spice trade.
Carrom Rules?
1. Objective: The primary objective of the game is to pocket all the pucks (black and white) into the four corners of the carrom board using the striker.
2. Scoring: In most game modes, the game is won by the player who scores the highest points. Points are awarded as follows:
* Black pucks: 1 point each when pocketed.
* White pucks: 2 points each when pocketed.
* Queen (black puck): 2 points when pocketed individually, but if a player pockets all the other pucks (black and white) first, the Queen becomes worth 10 points.
3. Striker: Use the striker to hit the pucks. The striker must be hit by the pucks or flicked using the in-game controls.
4. Pocketing pucks: Pocketing the pucks involves sliding them into one of the four corners of the carrom board.
5. Hitting the pucks: You can hit multiple pucks in a single stroke, but you must pocket all the pucks hit in that stroke to score points. If you miss pocketing any, the remaining pucks will be returned to the center of the board, and your turn will end.
6. Turns: Each player or AI opponent takes turns hitting the pucks until one player or team reaches the required points or pockets all the pucks.
7. Fouls: Certain actions are considered fouls and may result in penalties or loss of turn:
* Hitting the striker more than once in a single stroke.
* Failing to pocket all pucks hit in a single stroke.
* Touching the pucks with your fingers or any other object while the striker is in play.
8. Game modes: Different game modes may have specific rules or objectives, such as clearing all black pucks in Challenge Mode or finishing within a time limit in Time Trial Mode.
